Blessing Jar

Happy New Year's Eve!  A 2013 recap, December recap, and New Year's Resolutions are all to come, but today I want to share a quick and easy DIY for 2014 - A Blessing Jar.

To make a blessing jar all you need is some paper, a pen, and an old vase or container.  We've had this jar forever, and I just added some gold leaf and a label to make it "fancier."  (Josh loves it when things get "fancied.")

The idea is that once a day we will jot down a blessing or something we are thankful for and throw it in the jar.  We've decided to initial and date each entry so that at the end of the year we can put them in order.   It's so easy to remember the highlights of each year, but I'm hoping the Blessing Jar will help us relish the little joys in each day.

"A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realize how blessed you are."

Blessings to you in 2014!

  1. I love this idea- and then to read them at the end of the year to see how blessed you've been.
It would even be nice to pull out a few and read as reminders if you're ever having a bad day!
    Happy New Year!

  2. By moving to Europe from the States, I have definitely learned to check my assumptions at the door.
